Bay Area News Group Article: $1 million plan would help child migrants who fled Central America
Bay Area News Group’s Matt O’Brien posted an article on October 10, 2014 about a group seeking one million dollars from the city of Oakland and Alameda County to provide legal help, housing and mental health services to unaccompanied Central American minors. The article is focused on an Oakland pastor’s role in the crisis. After several weeks of federal detention and processing near Texas, the unaccompanied minors were released to family members in the East Bay that belong to his congregation. According to the author, there are now over 300 children who fled the rising gang and cartel violence in Central America in Oakland and Hayward. Read about it here.
